night; defender

With night's fall, you are once again locked in your cabin for the evening. Outside, a blizzard rages. The howl of the wind blocks out the sound of anything happening outside of your small room, and outside your window you can see only the white of frost covering your window and darkness beyond.
At 11 PM exactly, the candle on your desk lights, filling your cabin with a warm, yellow glow. If you are asleep, the light will wake you. You are drawn to your desk.
There, in the center of the desk, is your journal open to a page that was previously blank.

role | description
night one
There is a child standing in your room of indeterminate age and gender. It is wearing a mask that appears to be a rabbit head, and waiting near your desk.]
Hi!
I picked you for something really great!
no subject
The light startles a nearly asleep Sayaka, causing her to stir a bit and wake up--she couldn't make out the shape in front of her, but she could make out the words.]
Something... [Yaaaawn.] Something great? What do you mean by that...?
no subject
We're going to play a really fun game! And I've picked you for a super duper role!
no subject
But uh. Fun game does not give her any good vibes. She just escaped a fun game--!
Give her a second to rub her eyes a little more, opening them up in shock.]
...Fun game? I don't...what are the rules of it, before you tell me what my 'role' is?
[Yeah, just gonna. Kinda shrink a bit into the bed.]
no subject
But okay, I guess I can help you out while I'm here, since you're so nice. This is a game where you have to find the hunters!
no subject
...Okay, that seems simple enough. So we just need to find them, then?
[There's a bit of unintentional emphasis on 'find', and an unasked question--mostly, if they'd have to kill them themselves, or something.]
no subject
Oh, and to make things even more exciting, there's another way that the prey can kill hunters besides voting! That's where you come in, Sayaka. Go on, ask me what it is, ask me!
no subject
Still, Sayaka nods her head--from what she's getting, she's on the 'good' side. And that's good!]
I understand what you're saying. I wouldn't...necessarily call it great, but if that's what has to be done, I suppose it has to be done.
[...Okay, that second bit gets a bit of intrigue out of Sayaka. Morbid intrigue, really, but intrigue none the less.]
...That sounds like a heavy role. What is it, exactly?
no subject
As for what the defender does - are you ready? You...get to give people guns! Oh boy, doesn't that sound like fun?
no subject
Fun...maybe. I think it's more important, than fun.
So I can give guns to all of the prey to give them something to defend themselves from the hunters? ...Or are there specific rules about that?
no subject
no subject
It was a horrible, horrible chance.]
...It sounds like one misstep could lead to a Hunter getting an unfair advantage. But if I'm going to defend others...I guess it means I'll have to take that chance, won't I? I'll have to decide...so that we can win...
[Her look goes dark at that. Objective. She knows what she's gotta do.]
I understand now. Is that all you can tell me? I don't want to keep you here playing twenty questions all night, unless you don't mind.
no subject
Nope, that's it! All the other rules are written in your journal. The game won't officially start until tomorrow, so you don't have to worry about making a choice tonight! Sleep tight!
no subject
Alright then, I'll be sure to read it. Get some good sleep too, okay?
night two
You have until 7PM EST on Friday to reply.
no subject
Perhaps inevitably, however, she circles Makoto Naegi's name. She trusted him at the very least, and she didn't think he'd kill; maybe not even with the gun.]
night three
You have until 7PM EST on Wednesday to reply.
no subject
night four
You have until 7PM EST on Monday to reply.
no subject
She circles Mondo Oowada's name.]
night five
You have until 7PM EST on Saturday to reply.
no subject
night six
You have until 7 PM EST on Thursday to reply.
no subject
She circles Kyouko Kirigiri, once again.]
night seven
You have until 7 PM EST on Monday to reply.
Re: night seven
Well, this takes a surprising amount of deliberation--she knows she can't simply keep tossing the gun around to three people won't work in the long run, especially when they don't use them. Perhaps this would be for the best...
Luke Triton's name is circled.]
no subject
You have until 7 PM EST on Saturday to reply.

night nine
You have until 7 PM EST on Thursday to reply.
no subject
night ten
You have until 7 PM EST on Sunday to reply.
Re: night ten
She circles Ciel's name.]
