graveyard part five
![]() You wake up in an unfamiliar cabin. At first, it almost seems like you're in an entirely different place and that everything had been just a dream. The interior of the cabin looks nothing like the run-down, old-timey shacks that you had been living in before. Everything in here is sleek and modern, from the enormous flat-screen TV mounted on the wall to the fridge and mini-bars stocked with all your favorite foods. There aren't any individual rooms in here, just a common area large enough to house everyone comfortably, no matter how many more people join you...and there will be plenty more people joining you before the week is over. Because if you look outside the window, it quickly becomes clear that not only are you still in Prayer's Pass, but that you are no longer among the realm of the living. Judging from the tombstones directly outside, you're now in what had been the abandoned broken-down cabin in the graveyard. The cabin's not all that changed; the world outside has gone completely grey and everything you see appears to be faded and blurry. The only things that remain sharp and in color are what's inside the cabin, including your fellow ghosts. Occasionally, people who are still alive may enter, but it's clear that what they're seeing is completely different from what you're seeing. The door's unlocked; however, a mysterious force prevents you from stepping beyond the threshold, no matter how hard you may try. After all, this cabin is a cage for the dead - a gilded one, perhaps, but a cage nonetheless. On the flat-screen TV plays everything that is currently happening in the town. It will shut off once night starts...and something else will appear instead. |

Hee hee, you truly do have terrible luck, don't you? Though this was less of a pure gamble and more of a bet that our hunters are far more determined to see this through than they seem during the day.
I'll leave you in charge of that. I'm just curious as to what happened to Rhyme. It'll be a mess if she's dragged into this with him.

You have no idea how awful my luck is. Not even I know how far down the well it goes. [DRAMATIC SIGH.] Now we know their determination is still quite present, at least. You'll get your performance after this trial.
I'll punch him twice, in that case. [...] Who's Rhyme?

His sister. Well, her soul at any rate, which he brought into this town. Though given Critter's fondness for animals and the fact that she's sort of a squirrel right now, who knows what'll wind up happening to her? [twewy is complicated okay]

Oh. ...I'm not entirely certain that I understand but I imagine it has something to do with some complex and ridiculous reincarnation soul-type thing, yes? [poor Rhyme...] If she's a squirrel she ought to be fine. I heard that beast was quite upset when the hunters wanted to kill Rapunzel's pet chameleon.

Hee hee, don't knock it until you've tried it. I wouldn't be surprised if a complex and ridiculous reincarnation into some sort of animal form is what awaits us should they not solve the real game. I only hope the animal we're brought back as has nothing to do with our roles, being a rabbit sounds awfully dull and pedestrian. [and he snorts at that] I don't blame it - I'd be upset too if I realized what a bunch of overdramatic players I'd recruited into my game.

I hope that's not the case. I don't want to get stuck with something stupid and literal like a bat, you know? A rabbit wouldn't be very decent, either. ...To be honest, neither would a wolf. [complains about everything!!!] Anyway, it brought that misery upon itself. Surely it wouldn't have been able to tailor such specific invites if it didn't know something about the game players, yes?
