graveyard part five

hunter's game the graveyard

You wake up in an unfamiliar cabin.

At first, it almost seems like you're in an entirely different place and that everything had been just a dream. The interior of the cabin looks nothing like the run-down, old-timey shacks that you had been living in before. Everything in here is sleek and modern, from the enormous flat-screen TV mounted on the wall to the fridge and mini-bars stocked with all your favorite foods. There aren't any individual rooms in here, just a common area large enough to house everyone comfortably, no matter how many more people join you...and there will be plenty more people joining you before the week is over.

Because if you look outside the window, it quickly becomes clear that not only are you still in Prayer's Pass, but that you are no longer among the realm of the living. Judging from the tombstones directly outside, you're now in what had been the abandoned broken-down cabin in the graveyard. The cabin's not all that changed; the world outside has gone completely grey and everything you see appears to be faded and blurry. The only things that remain sharp and in color are what's inside the cabin, including your fellow ghosts. Occasionally, people who are still alive may enter, but it's clear that what they're seeing is completely different from what you're seeing. The door's unlocked; however, a mysterious force prevents you from stepping beyond the threshold, no matter how hard you may try. After all, this cabin is a cage for the dead - a gilded one, perhaps, but a cage nonetheless.

On the flat-screen TV plays everything that is currently happening in the town. It will shut off once night starts...and something else will appear instead.

(The graveyard so far)
speakveryclearly: Kanaya glowing and not sure what else to do with herself; with a flat expression, she has just arrived on the scene. (Arrival)

That does make me feel a lot better, actually. [Imagines any of the other living trolls he mentioned knowing in this game and... oh god.] Both of those things. Your endorsement is encouraging. [Like if Naegi or someone said that it would be different but Charles is like this wonderful intermediate of Earth and rainbow drinker...]

Touko... I regret having made her uncomfortable in my life. I just wanted to help. With my attention to both herself and her counterpart. She really wasn't anywhere near half bad, and I relate to her most strongly out of anyone left alive.

[he will use his rare status to help make things a little better... it's the least he can do when their own side is failing so badly even when they are literally handed every single clue on a silver platter.]

I'm glad I could at least do that much for you. I also understand what it's like to be surrounded by dunderheads, so I very much empathize. [#tragiclife]

She's a skittish girl and I don't at all like her, but she might actually get things done if she doesn't waste another day with whatever moronic plan the Doctor is trying to hatch.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya very serious over a needle and thread in her hand and mouth. (Determined)

[Tomorrow nothing happens but a bunch of silver platters appearing under every clue unlocked so far]

Touko doesn't seem to be entertaining his notions at least. Neither are Gundam and Sharon, or even his dear Clara. That leaves Madoka, Rikku, and Beat. [...wow jesus Christ is the list of the living short now]

There's a risk from all of them, but I think Madoka is principled enough to go forward with the group plan, Rikku can see through his obvious lie, and Beat can be convinced by the others. [.....YEAH HER FAITH IN BEAT ISN'T VERY HIGH TBH]

[and they still don't get it]

That seems like potential cowing to me, actually. Clara doesn't seem entirely convinced either. [watching this and whistling quietly.] —Well, it seems not even he will be able to get off lightly. How arrogant, though! Believing himself to be so necessary to our escape that he needs to waste a day to get here. Stupid, stupid.

[he doesn't have any faith in any of them at this point tbh...]
speakveryclearly: Kanaya, white as cinderblocks, burning with platonic hate manifest in a dark squiggle over her head. (Bitter)

[Oh sweet jesus -- she's beginning to hiss a little. Alien noises!!!]

He thinks he can set us free.

I think I can free his limbs from his torso.

[LAUGHING

IT'S NOT A PLEASANT LAUGH]

You know, I truly liked him in Mayfield! [clapping his hands together rather decisively.] Let's see if we can trade him for someone better once he gets here. Critter doesn't seem to appreciate things without value so that may be a roadblock, though.

speakveryclearly: Kanaya with a kissable black smile and tired, Kill Me Now eyes. (Volatile)

It's a little sad! How different people can seem variably valuable in different situations. I'm sure when he has his precious TARDIS working he's much less tiresome considering he can just get up and leave. I'm sure he's very nice when he's not actively dissuading the prey from a course of action he self-righteously demanded himself every day until now.

I'm really going to maim him. I've held back enough.

[looks very pleased!! oh boy oh boy maiming]

Oh, please do. I would really appreciate the show, you have no idea. I'll make sure to pave the way and set the stage for the most fantastic beating you've ever delivered in your entire life, I can promise you. Nothing less than a brutal maiming will get how useless he's been through his thick skull.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with narrowed eyes, harsh bright yellow, with background sunny desert sky. Jade lipstick and eye makeup. (Dealing)

I'm weaker here than normally and weaponless but if I had my chainsaw I would seriously consider cutting off both his arms. I'm going to try to rip them off as it is. The only thing that could possibly stop me from trying is the chance Clara could be upset, but she might survive. And she might understand.

If so many innocents [like uhhhh Poland or Sayaka or Ada of course not one-horn over here why would you think Kan cares about herself and how she's been wounded here no way!!!] have to be mutilated so we could make it this far, he might as well get a taste of what the sacrificing that's really happened - instead of our escape of which we're so preciously incapable without him - has been like.

If I had my original strength, I'd rip them off in one clean shot. Pop! [makes a... pulling an arm off a body motion?! charles...] But I'd like to see you give it a good shot for the rest of us. Clara be damned, he's already shown how little he cares for her anyway. We at least deserve one arm from him for having to sit through this nonsense.

[it's okay kanaya he immediately puts you in that group too. YOU'RE ALL TRAGIC HEROES and the doctor is just a butt.] He ought to, you know, more than any of us. If he wants his martyrdom so badly, he should be given it.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya in monochrome pink, smirking as she pulls the cord on her raised chainsaw. (Lollipop)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-06-11 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe we can work together on it. Take one arm each and see who gets lucky or if we split him in half right down the middle. If he wants to give up his life purposelessly - and fuck everything he's saying, it's literally entirely purposelessly - he doesn't deserve his afterlife either.

Clara really doesn't deserve any of this. She's probably going to be killed tonight, too, considering she and Sharon are the only adults left and how humans are about age.

Like a wishbone! It's been a long time since I've been able to split one of those. Whoever gets the larger half will make a wish, yes? Ah, but I entirely agree with that. Anyway, if he wasted his life why wouldn't he waste his afterlife? I don't want to be stuck here listening to him tell us that we simply aren't trying hard enough to escape, either.

Hm... To be honest, I believe Beat will be the next on the chopping block if they actually go with this foolish idea. Madoka and Touko will likely make it to the end, or as close to the end as can be managed, but I could see Sharon sparing Clara a little longer. On the other hand, Clara does know her identity. [a shrug] I do feel badly for her but she'd save them all the trouble by talking the Doctor out of it.
