graveyard part 4

hunter's game the graveyard

You wake up in an unfamiliar cabin.

At first, it almost seems like you're in an entirely different place and that everything had been just a dream. The interior of the cabin looks nothing like the run-down, old-timey shacks that you had been living in before. Everything in here is sleek and modern, from the enormous flat-screen TV mounted on the wall to the fridge and mini-bars stocked with all your favorite foods. There aren't any individual rooms in here, just a common area large enough to house everyone comfortably, no matter how many more people join you...and there will be plenty more people joining you before the week is over.

Because if you look outside the window, it quickly becomes clear that not only are you still in Prayer's Pass, but that you are no longer among the realm of the living. Judging from the tombstones directly outside, you're now in what had been the abandoned broken-down cabin in the graveyard. The cabin's not all that changed; the world outside has gone completely grey and everything you see appears to be faded and blurry. The only things that remain sharp and in color are what's inside the cabin, including your fellow ghosts. Occasionally, people who are still alive may enter, but it's clear that what they're seeing is completely different from what you're seeing. The door's unlocked; however, a mysterious force prevents you from stepping beyond the threshold, no matter how hard you may try. After all, this cabin is a cage for the dead - a gilded one, perhaps, but a cage nonetheless.

On the flat-screen TV plays everything that is currently happening in the town. It will shut off once night starts...and something else will appear instead.

[guess who's still hovering behind charles

...nothing too flashy, she's just petting him on the head for leaving good instructions behind. BUT IT COULD JUST BE FONDNESS PETTING TOO, RIGHT? so let's say it's that!!]

There won't be any kicking unless you're the one doing it, Charles, and you don't need to concern yourself with that. There's a big line of people already waiting to volunteer, and besides, you've already worked hard enough. So just eat and rest now, okay?

[why hello captain. he glances up and over at her, only moving to smooth his hair back into place after she's done. the sentiment is understood and appreciated okay murder trio understands.]

I don't feel like kicking much of anything right now so I suppose no kicking will be done at all. [...] Except tomorrow when Oowada joins us, no doubt, but I won't be doing any of that either. [he'll be laughing though THROWS EVERYONE UNDER THE BUS] Is there a line? ...Are you in it?

[personal profile] expiatrice 2013-06-12 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[the murder trio understands]

You'll have to work all that sugar off somehow, but we could wait until later, yes. There's plenty of time in the afterlife, isn't there?

[ciel that's heretic...]

There is, and I'm not. I'd hesitate even if I have to step up, you know. What's important to me is a convoluted question!

...

Also quite reminiscent of the Post Office back in Mayfield, don't you think?

[he appreciates this understanding okay...]

Ugh, I don't have to work anything off. I'm dead. [huffs and takes a particularly sour-faced bite of churro. the mention of the post office gets him to look back up though, brow quirked.]

I was thinking the same thing. These little coincidences certainly are piling up, are they not? I suppose there isn't much point in pondering over it this late in the game.

[personal profile] expiatrice 2013-06-12 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
But still human, yes?

[details...]

There wasn't even at the start, but they certainly make for interesting coincidences. Still, that only makes it harder to take this game seriously, you know? It might've faked our memories, or simply made the transition smooth enough for us to not notice that anything was out of place until our collective arrival. We're probably all fine and doing what we're supposed to be doing back home in our respectful worlds and universes, that's how it was back in Mayfield too.

[small sigh!]

I should really consider studying the Second Magic extensively, at this rate. I've dimension-traveled more than enough for a single human lifetime, but knowledge and awareness would likely come in useful, if this pattern persists in my future.

[and knowing her luck, it probably and by that we mean certainly will...]

A dead human that isn't even digesting anything. [waves her off LET HIM BE A LAZY FATTYDINGDONG]

Do you think? I suppose that's one worry off. [he says "worry" like he was worrying at all in the first place...] Whatever, that's more reason to hope this rubbish ends as quickly as possible. Just hurry up and let us all flick out of existence so we can go back to doing more important things. [whine gripe whine!!]

You know, if you learn something like that, try applying it to technology so I can take it with me as well. I don't want to be stuck swimming upstream through hundreds of stupid games for the rest of eternity.

[personal profile] expiatrice 2013-06-12 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't that be convenient?

[it's ok she was probably eating curry all the way so FATTYDINGDONG IN ARMS...]

There's very little point to speculate at this stage either way, right? I do share that sentiment with you, admittedly. I hope this ends soon.

...

I'm nowhere near as proficient with technology as I am with magic, unfortunately. What if I accompany you through every single one? It'll make things less dull at least, don't you think?

[SHE SURE WENT THERE... LITERALLY, TOO!!]

[good if they both get resurrected as fattydingdongs they will at least have each other...]

Hopefully Critter won't allow them to keep playing when nearly everyone knows who the last wolf is, anyway. [EYEROLL. those dumbos wow]

That doesn't make me feel any better, sadly. I'd rather sit through the periodic stretch of dullness than be cursed with one person's continuous presence through all of my journeys.

[personal profile] expiatrice 2013-06-13 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
[the stars would align no other way]

Hopefully indeed, haha, but I'd suggest we not hold our breaths.

Not even if I'll cook for you for the rest of your life?

[it's always the same bribe............]

[personal profile] encored 2013-06-13 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
[the worst part about it is that the bribe (almost) always works.]

Even that would get tiresome. If we're truly stuck in the company of one another for years and years and years to come, you'll run out of things to impress me with eventually.

[personal profile] expiatrice 2013-06-13 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
[you mean the best and most convenient one.]

I bet I can still catch you off-guard even if we get another millennium around each other, though. Are you willing to take up that bet, Charles?

[it's a trap............]
encored: (that's a bit unusual)

[go away no judging THIS IS A JUDGE-FREE ZONE]

I'll make that wager without hesitation.

[personal profile] expiatrice 2013-06-13 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
I'll hold you onto it. What are you waging?
encored: (at his head a grass-green turf)

Let's have a penalty wager. Whoever loses owes the winner something. Let's eliminate trinkets as well since neither of us could make much use out of anything the other has.

[he says while still wearing Ciel's cloak and Spain's cross]

[personal profile] expiatrice 2013-06-13 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
That's fine, I doubt I have any material possession you'd deem worthwhile to appropriate anyway. What would you ask of me then, if you somehow won?

[she'll spare him. he does look comfortable...]

[personal profile] encored 2013-06-13 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
[he is very comfortable, it's true...]

When I win, you'll have to leave me alone for one entire day. Twenty-four full hours, no loopholes, no sneaking around, no using other people to check on me, and no asking what I've done after. What will you ask of me on the off chance that you somehow turn out on top? [SCOFF]

[personal profile] expiatrice 2013-06-13 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
...

How would you make sure I don't do any of those things though, unless you're willing to spend 24 hours making absolutely sure nothing of the sort comes to pass?

[>implying she'd cheat even if she loses

DID YOU HONESTLY EXPECT BETTER.............]

[CIEL]

I would hope you have the decorum to abide by something as simple as the rules of making wagers, especially for such a ridiculously short time period.

[personal profile] expiatrice 2013-06-13 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
[WHAT'S UP CHARLES]

But what if you need help for something, or misbehave?

[WHERE'S THE FUN IN THAT??]
encored: (oh my dear my dear)

[NOT EVEN ADDRESSING THAT]

Either agree to the terms of my wager or admit defeat to me now, the option is yours.

[personal profile] expiatrice 2013-06-13 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, if my dearest Charles insist~!
