graveyard part 4

hunter's game the graveyard

You wake up in an unfamiliar cabin.

At first, it almost seems like you're in an entirely different place and that everything had been just a dream. The interior of the cabin looks nothing like the run-down, old-timey shacks that you had been living in before. Everything in here is sleek and modern, from the enormous flat-screen TV mounted on the wall to the fridge and mini-bars stocked with all your favorite foods. There aren't any individual rooms in here, just a common area large enough to house everyone comfortably, no matter how many more people join you...and there will be plenty more people joining you before the week is over.

Because if you look outside the window, it quickly becomes clear that not only are you still in Prayer's Pass, but that you are no longer among the realm of the living. Judging from the tombstones directly outside, you're now in what had been the abandoned broken-down cabin in the graveyard. The cabin's not all that changed; the world outside has gone completely grey and everything you see appears to be faded and blurry. The only things that remain sharp and in color are what's inside the cabin, including your fellow ghosts. Occasionally, people who are still alive may enter, but it's clear that what they're seeing is completely different from what you're seeing. The door's unlocked; however, a mysterious force prevents you from stepping beyond the threshold, no matter how hard you may try. After all, this cabin is a cage for the dead - a gilded one, perhaps, but a cage nonetheless.

On the flat-screen TV plays everything that is currently happening in the town. It will shut off once night starts...and something else will appear instead.

I want the mystery to be solved. But I can't accept Madoka sacrificing herself for it.

She needs to live.

Ms. Carter isn't heartless or anything like that... I don't think she'd kill her, if she's trying to talk "the hunters" out of it. [It's a hunch, at least. She keeps her eyes on the screen, waiting for something to happen.]

Ugh-- Critter's got all of us cornered.

[ She has to laugh at that. Holden might have been the one who beat her to death, but the other woman didn't seem too sad about watching or doing the same to Arya. ]

Whatever you wanna think. All I know is that if we've still gotta vote, I'd rather it be for a hunter.

[Ukyo sucks her teeth. Of course.]

Look. At the very least, we've got two nights left. I don't know how long this time limit's goin' on for, but if Mayu AND Ms. Carter are killed in the next two days, it's over. Everyone here, and probably everyone there are going to die.

And I don't know about you, but I can't afford to die here.

Then Mayu can be the one who survives long enough.

[ At least she isn't trying to manipulate Madoka — trying to trick someone already too trusting into believing what she says. ]

That way, there's no risk of the hunters outnumbering the prey. It'll buy the most time.

I don't want to sound insensitive, but it's too late for her. Critter's already pissed enough as it is, and if everyone changes their vote to help us... [A room full of people on fire. She shivers at the thought.]

It has to be Ms. Carter. If it's even possible.

Critter won't kill everyone off. There wouldn't be a game anymore.

The other deaths were just to scare people into voting. If it's clear nobody's gonna vote, it'll probably just pick someone at random.
yajackass: (why did it have to be free scone day?)

I wouldn't put it past him, is what I'm saying. But, he's intent on the prey winning, so if he kills a lot of them, it's only helping those two.

...best bet is that they listen to Fukawa and figure something out fast.

[ She scoffs. ]

Hopefully. But what do you think the chances of that are?

...slim. There're still a lotta stubborn jackasses around here.
