graveyard part 4

hunter's game the graveyard

You wake up in an unfamiliar cabin.

At first, it almost seems like you're in an entirely different place and that everything had been just a dream. The interior of the cabin looks nothing like the run-down, old-timey shacks that you had been living in before. Everything in here is sleek and modern, from the enormous flat-screen TV mounted on the wall to the fridge and mini-bars stocked with all your favorite foods. There aren't any individual rooms in here, just a common area large enough to house everyone comfortably, no matter how many more people join you...and there will be plenty more people joining you before the week is over.

Because if you look outside the window, it quickly becomes clear that not only are you still in Prayer's Pass, but that you are no longer among the realm of the living. Judging from the tombstones directly outside, you're now in what had been the abandoned broken-down cabin in the graveyard. The cabin's not all that changed; the world outside has gone completely grey and everything you see appears to be faded and blurry. The only things that remain sharp and in color are what's inside the cabin, including your fellow ghosts. Occasionally, people who are still alive may enter, but it's clear that what they're seeing is completely different from what you're seeing. The door's unlocked; however, a mysterious force prevents you from stepping beyond the threshold, no matter how hard you may try. After all, this cabin is a cage for the dead - a gilded one, perhaps, but a cage nonetheless.

On the flat-screen TV plays everything that is currently happening in the town. It will shut off once night starts...and something else will appear instead.

That depends on whether the prey are actually going to try to win or if they're going to follow along with this ridiculous idea of doing nothing and getting picked off one by one, though. But at this point, who really cares about them? [EVERYONE JOSHUA LIKES EXCEPT FOR BEAT AND MADOKA IS DEAD...] Their decisions shouldn't take away from the fact that you named all five hunters days ago. [because what clearly matters here is being smug

also there are quite a few pictures because Spain got pretty fucking mad and Joshua can snap photos like the wind when he needs to]
Unfortunately so, but perhaps you can convince someone to put on a repeat performance.

That shouldn't be a problem. I've worked to prevent them from believing any more tales of the hunters needing to win and being in the right. It's up to them from there, but we'll see, we'll see. I don't much care about them but I am still invested in winning after all of that work. [hard knock life!! but yes just allow him to smile because he does feel quite smug about that.

and then he's got a new goal so hey, life is good!]
I assume Holden was the wolf doing the most violent acts in the tapes, yes? It shouldn't be difficult to get an encore if that's the case. [wait hang on pausing to point at a particularly brutal picture] I want that one framed.

Oh good, that's a relief to hear. I think Beat will be quite adamant about needing to win anyway, as the life of his sister depends on it, but who knows about the others. I admit that regardless of whether it's a trap or not, I'll still be quite disappointed if the prey lose after we spent all that effort handing them their victory on a silver platter. [because who the fuck cares if the hunters are actually in the right WINNING IS WHAT'S IMPORTANT HERE]

You would be correct. Ah, there should be a picture of Sayaka hitting him in there too. She's got quite the spectacular left hook. [giggles] If I could, I'd create a whole photo gallery just for these.

[to be honest that's part of the reason he's not really flipping his shit over not dying. he had planned on taking out Carter during the day in what would hopefully be a double shoot out if he survived the night because he sure as hell doesn't want to stick around to see what the prey win... he just wants them to win!!]

Beat and Oowada should both make formidable roadblocks for the last of the hunters, I'd say. Oowada should be incriminating Mayu as we speak and at least four people are aware that Sharon is the next contender, so we should be fine. I say should because I can't predict whether or not there are any other Lithuanias in the group. [crafty turncoats!!] —Where is he, anyway?

Ah, but that's good, she was a good player and deserves to get a hit. Perhaps we could make a game of it? Set Holden up somewhere and allow everyone to take a shot. There's no challenge in that, though.

If there are, at least we'll have the pleasure of watching them dealt with from here. And Lithuania won't be joining us any time soon, I'm afraid. Evidently, rulebreakers like himself and the others Critter killed go somewhere else, or perhaps nowhere at all. We had an option to either bring him back here or to unlock more clues at night, and the majority of us voted on the greater good. [sounds so broken-hearted about this yeah that was a real tough choice for him to make] So his betrayal wasn't a total waste.

You're implying that Holden is worth the effort of an actual challenge. I see no problems with this game.

[oh gosh he is so pained by lithuania's permanent departure just look at the heartbroken expression on his face when he hears the news...]

Ah, all right. Well I'd say the clues won't matter one way or another at this point but I won't be underestimating the stupidity of anyone on our side again. [kanyeshrug] Like you said, we can watch it unfold from here, so that's fine.

If that's good enough for you though, let's ask Ciel to have it arranged. I'd like a few more gifts for all the trouble and effort I put forth, you know? Making a dying man work as your pack mule, honestly.

The clues are supposed to be for some mysterious 'real game' that may or may not have anything to do with this one, so perhaps we'll get some sort of bonus level if we finish unlocking them. Or perhaps they're just a distraction to bring down the morale of the prey and Lithuania fell for it, we have no way of telling right now. [returns that kanyeshrug because the amount of curr he has about this is in the negatives]

You certainly deserve it. I'm rather impressed, actually - if I'd been left on my own after that performance, I would have simply thrown my hands up in the air and let the prey sort it out for themselves.

I don't care about any parts of this game by now. [he also doesn't want to be stuck in a cabin with this many people for eternity either but HEY you win some you lose some]

I'm glad I could be impressive in my final hours, at least. It would have been a slap in the face to just roll over and accept my death after that mess, you know? I can't stand the idea of the wolves gloating. [aka charles's main motivator is spite and no one was surprised] I truly wanted to take out the poisoner myself, so the only thing I really regret is taking Caulfield to trial in the first place. ...Well that and allowing Lithuania to keep his gun. I spoke to him shortly before the trial, you know, and he nearly offered to let me have it. It was my mistake for trusting him.
condescent: (smirk | but it's hard to admit)

[personal profile] condescent 2013-06-07 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
What, not even to see our poisoner suffer an excruciating death? If they don't at least execute her, I'll be extremely disappointed. [he's realized by now that the hunters at least think they're playing for a good cause and Sharon hadn't been one of the people driving in nails...but she also poisoned Charles and left him to die alone horribly so yeah he's cool with watching her suffer this is true friendship]

It says something when the most helpful person for the prey by far is the one who was dying of poison the entire day. Hee hee, I wouldn't be so down on yourself though. At least now we know to never trust one of the nations ever again...and he did get punished quite thoroughly for his little trick.

Well, that I do want to see. I wanted to kill her myself, but I suppose a proxy kill will have to work. [a sigh! thanks joshua you are truly a friend in his time of desperate vengeance need. he still hasn't properly sated his blood lust so he could go for a few gruesome executions...]

Still, I wish I had foreseen it, you know? Ugh, and I wish I hadn't made such a stupid mistake when I was talking to Caulfield. [shaking his head] I suppose I'm also to blame for my being unable to shoot a second hunter, but there's no fun in being too hard on myself when there are plenty of other people in this room who are more at fault.
