graveyard part 3

hunter's game the graveyard

You wake up in an unfamiliar cabin.

At first, it almost seems like you're in an entirely different place and that everything had been just a dream. The interior of the cabin looks nothing like the run-down, old-timey shacks that you had been living in before. Everything in here is sleek and modern, from the enormous flat-screen TV mounted on the wall to the fridge and mini-bars stocked with all your favorite foods. There aren't any individual rooms in here, just a common area large enough to house everyone comfortably, no matter how many more people join you...and there will be plenty more people joining you before the week is over.

Because if you look outside the window, it quickly becomes clear that not only are you still in Prayer's Pass, but that you are no longer among the realm of the living. Judging from the tombstones directly outside, you're now in what had been the abandoned broken-down cabin in the graveyard. The cabin's not all that changed; the world outside has gone completely grey and everything you see appears to be faded and blurry. The only things that remain sharp and in color are what's inside the cabin, including your fellow ghosts. Occasionally, people who are still alive may enter, but it's clear that what they're seeing is completely different from what you're seeing. The door's unlocked; however, a mysterious force prevents you from stepping beyond the threshold, no matter how hard you may try. After all, this cabin is a cage for the dead - a gilded one, perhaps, but a cage nonetheless.

On the flat-screen TV plays everything that is currently happening in the town. It will shut off once night starts...and something else will appear instead.

[He frowns.]

Another resurrection. But why?
notyetlost: (that's NOT okay)

Mayu gets to do everything! [Critter's just playing favorites, he's sure of it. Never mind she died before she ever got to do anything with her super coveted role that Poland has been jealous over since she mentioned it.

...still. That's a good question.]

Did Critter bring her back to stack the deck against us even more?

We don't know if she was brought back as a Hunter or not. But, this is becoming strange. I'm trying to figure out if there is a pattern, but they are as unrelated as can be aside from early death.

They both had special roles too, right?

Yes. Their alignment however is different. He was a Hunter, she a Scavenger. I wonder what the significance of this is. Will a Prey be next to revive perhaps, if we go in order?
speakveryclearly: Kanaya cringes as she looks at something skeptically. Jade lipstick. (Doubt)

[Kanaya's ears prick up, immediately. She's been listening closely to this entire conversation as it is, but prey... though she's embraced her role as a ghost, she hasn't forgotten what was carved into her hand.]

That could imply Sam Winchester. Or James Sunderland.

[What prey next if not them?]

It could be any of you really. Mayu and Sanae coming back after dying so soon could be coincidental. But, I think by now the others are going to start realizing that there is something sinister with this game with two people now alive again.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya in ivory, pointing out a problem with a raised arm and trying not to be petulant. (Dissatisfaction)

Realizing there is something sinister? How has this not been sinister from the start? [Something about this doesn't fit to this herbivore.]

Of course. But, that isn't what I meant. Once was a fluke, the second begins to form a pattern. They may soon begin to question Critter on why people are returning.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya grumbling with one hand pressed to her face. Jade lipstick. (Frustration)

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-05-31 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Why are people returning? It completely ruins the purpose of a life or death game in my opinion... Desirable, of course, but not sensical.

They were also both killed at night, one by a scavenger and one by the vigilante. [he frowns in thought] Mayu's death seemed to at least fit within the rules of the game, but Hanekoma's was unusual. Kirigiri said that Critter had essentially led her to him by giving her a clue pointing to his identity. Is that what it meant when it said it brought him back to make things fair? And in that case...then Robin would be the next likeliest candidate, wouldn't she?

Then perhaps the ones who return are the ones killed by the solo outlier roles. Unfortunately, there isn't enough data to be conclusive when only two have returned. Perhaps if one more comes back then we can establish something.
