graveyard part 3

hunter's game the graveyard

You wake up in an unfamiliar cabin.

At first, it almost seems like you're in an entirely different place and that everything had been just a dream. The interior of the cabin looks nothing like the run-down, old-timey shacks that you had been living in before. Everything in here is sleek and modern, from the enormous flat-screen TV mounted on the wall to the fridge and mini-bars stocked with all your favorite foods. There aren't any individual rooms in here, just a common area large enough to house everyone comfortably, no matter how many more people join you...and there will be plenty more people joining you before the week is over.

Because if you look outside the window, it quickly becomes clear that not only are you still in Prayer's Pass, but that you are no longer among the realm of the living. Judging from the tombstones directly outside, you're now in what had been the abandoned broken-down cabin in the graveyard. The cabin's not all that changed; the world outside has gone completely grey and everything you see appears to be faded and blurry. The only things that remain sharp and in color are what's inside the cabin, including your fellow ghosts. Occasionally, people who are still alive may enter, but it's clear that what they're seeing is completely different from what you're seeing. The door's unlocked; however, a mysterious force prevents you from stepping beyond the threshold, no matter how hard you may try. After all, this cabin is a cage for the dead - a gilded one, perhaps, but a cage nonetheless.

On the flat-screen TV plays everything that is currently happening in the town. It will shut off once night starts...and something else will appear instead.

And more drawn out.

[:| You don't have to tell her twice. It felt like forever when she died.]

Who was there when you were being killed?
condescent: (aha | show me how to lie)

[personal profile] condescent 2013-06-03 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Kirigiri, Holden, Prussia, Sharon and Mayu. I guess I should be honored that I received the full party. [he smiles coldly] The first three will almost certainly be joining us today.
motheringnation: (Huh? What did you say?)

[personal profile] motheringnation 2013-06-03 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Three of them in one day?
condescent: (sly | through the blood he can learn)

[personal profile] condescent 2013-06-03 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
If Sanae and Spain did as we discussed, then they'll know that Kirigiri and Prussia are both hunters. Holden hasn't been officially confirmed, but he's made himself so obvious that we don't really need to waste a night looking into him. And now we have two guns on our side. Three hunters, one day.
motheringnation: (this is for you...)

[personal profile] motheringnation 2013-06-03 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[She glances over at the tv.]

....that ....will be interesting.

The hunters here won't be happy. They still want to win even here.
condescent: (bored | see the life that he took)

[personal profile] condescent 2013-06-03 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Then they should have played better. [doesn't sound like he cares at all] Even if they really are fighting for some grand purpose, they're delusional if they think the prey will forfeit simply based off a mysterious video and a few scraps of paper.
motheringnation: (in the army now)

[personal profile] motheringnation 2013-06-03 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
There's nothing they can do up here anyway. We can only unlock one thing at night and so far there doesn't seem to be much game in that. Despite what people are saying about the real game being separate from the one down there.

[She shrugs.]

All we can do is wait for the end and see what happens. And from what you've said, it's going to be much sooner then people thought.
condescent: (oh? | on his face is a map of the world)

[personal profile] condescent 2013-06-04 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Real game? [looking intrigued at that] Mind clarifying?
motheringnation: (My flag strong and proud)

[personal profile] motheringnation 2013-06-04 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently the game we were playing wasn't the real one.

Every night the dead have been sacrificing things, hands, memories to unlock buildings and clues for the living to figure and solve this mysterious "real game". One thing is unlocked per night I believe.
condescent: (bored | see the life that he took)

[personal profile] condescent 2013-06-04 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm...are you sure this real game actually exists? Because the clues have been so vague that they could really be leading to anything or even nothing at all.
motheringnation: (Sunflowers)

[personal profile] motheringnation 2013-06-04 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure at all. It could just be a trick or a way to get us to hope for the hunters.

However we can't do anything but unlock things where we are now. So I don't suppose it really matters.

[personal profile] terryplz 2013-06-04 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
...How unfortunate. That means we won't finish Abigail's journal. Or unlock the remaining areas.

[And what does that mean for the "real game"? That's what he really cares about now - the game of killing hunters and prey is just a coverup to him.

Oh and hi Josh.
]
condescent: (plot | remember this is just a game)

[personal profile] condescent 2013-06-04 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
[hi broose]

Well, you'll still have a night - even with as well as we're doing, we won't be able to finish them all off today. ['you', not 'we', because Josh has already sacrificed his life helping lead the prey to victory, like hell is he giving anything else up for a real game he's pretty sure is bullshit]
terryplz: (pic#6053343)

[personal profile] terryplz 2013-06-04 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
A night won't be enough. We'd need at least six more. Each night one person must sacrifice to find something and there are plenty of people here who have not given anything up. Without that time there won't be a way to finish. The only hope is that they realize the Ghosts need more time, but even then they wouldn't likely give up their victory.

...I suppose you don't care about that, do you?

[He noticed that "you'll" in the sentence.]
condescent: (dreamy | turning all against one)

[personal profile] condescent 2013-06-04 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
[It takes him a moment to answer Bruce, as he's too busy watching this. For half a second, there's something strangely vulnerable on his face - and then the smirk snaps back on.]

Not particularly, no. What can this supposed real game give me that I haven't won already? The game's already over, even if the hunters don't know it yet - this mysterious one won't help save any more people. And if what you say is true, then you don't need me to unlock anything anyway.

Besides, it's not my fault that your side's done terribly. I still can't believe none of the hunters voted for me that night I was up against you.
terryplz: (pic#6131034)

[personal profile] terryplz 2013-06-04 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
...

It is a shame I cannot answer you in any way that would not divulge information I am not permitted to share. You will have to see when the smoke clears.

As for the others, my only guess is they didn't want to be implicated in your death by voting for you. But frankly, the risk would have been worth it considering a number of people voted for you despite being Prey. Among them being Ema, the deerhound.
condescent: (side-eye | on a mountain he sits)

[personal profile] condescent 2013-06-04 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
This secret that the hunters are fighting for, you mean? Even if it was something large enough to convince the prey to deliberately lose, it wouldn't matter. No cheating, remember?

It was what lost them the game, the inability to work together and control the trials. They were too concerned with their own survival to take a gamble for the good of their team. And it's why we've won. Once we gathered a large enough group of prey that were willing to trust each other and risk their lives for the sake of victory, the game was ours.

[personal profile] glowing_skye 2013-06-04 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
I guess now we start wondering what happens to us if we don't solve this greater mystery, since it looks like the likelihood of that is very low.

[Frown frown]

I imagine it won't be as nice as this.
hintcoinplz: (Lost in thought)

[personal profile] hintcoinplz 2013-06-04 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Sharon was at mine too. You know, they've got some nerve to try and make us feel bad for them when they're methods for murder are so awful.
condescent: (oh? | on his face is a map of the world)

[personal profile] condescent 2013-06-04 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know whether they're able to choose the method or if Critter decides on it for them, but either way, some of them show a little too much sadism for people who've been supposedly forced into it.

[tilts his head] I should thank you, actually. You and Ema both. It was because of your notes that we knew to get in contact with Spain and Maizono so we could all work together.
hintcoinplz: (Guilty)

[personal profile] hintcoinplz 2013-06-04 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's the thing. I'd understand if some of them didn't seem to be enjoying it.

And I'm glad they helped! I just hope Ciel knows what to do with them now. I let her copy the notes I had last.
condescent: (plot | remember this is just a game)

[personal profile] condescent 2013-06-04 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
There seem to be all sorts of personalities among them. Still, it's a weak mind that takes its frustration out on a helpless victim, regardless of what they may have done against you.

Oh believe me, she does. We have quite the large prey alliance now, thanks to them. The hunters have nowhere to hide.
