night post; graveyard

With night's fall, the television broadcasting everything happening in town turns off; even the ghosts will have to be kept in suspense over who will be joining them come morning. A list appears on the table in front of the TV with a ballpoint pen lying next to it.

Ghosts, what will you unlock?
The jail - unlocked
The school
The church - unlocked
The gallery - unlocked
The supply shop - unlocked
??????? (audio) - unlocked
??????? (video) - unlocked
??????? (scrap) - Abigail's diary (unlocked)
??????? (scrap) - Abigail's diary (unlocked)
??????? (scrap) - unlocked
??????? (scrap) - unlocked
??????? (scrap)

You will have until 6:00 AM to make your choice, before the list disappears and the television flickers back on.

((OOC: This post will work a little different from other night posts! You do not have to show up every night in order to perform your role, and there will be no punishment for not doing so; however, we highly encourage you to do so as it will make the game more fun! You can also tag whenever you want instead of waiting for night to start; we'll put up a new 'night' comment at each day start.))

[rolls his eyes]

If I'm going to be committed to winning, I may as well see it all the way through. Besides, it's not like I have much of a choice now. [given that he couldn't have cared less about this when he died, it's pretty clear whose death he's referring to]

Anyways, I brought my cellphone with me to this town. Seeing as how we don't know if the fees are permanent, people with important material possessions to give up should go before others.

I agree. For some reason Critter can't let us sacrifice things that we don't have on us. I suspect it has to do with the way this "game" is set up and the restrictions on its powers. That may be why it needed to request us to come here, rather than kidnapping us for example.

Mmm, that would make sense that it doesn't have the power to affect anything outside of this town. Generally speaking, complete omnipotence is much easier to handle the smaller the area is, especially if it's an abandoned place like this one without a population the deity needs to control. As for how it gathered us, it doesn't actually take that much power to watch other universes or even send things to them. Mayfield was actually far more impressive than here.

[tilts his head] Actually, is Ema going tonight? I may hold off until tomorrow then. It would be waste if too many people tried and Critter took their fee anyway without unlocking anything.

Ema has expressed interest in going for a while. I don't think it matters who goes, as long as we have people who go in general.

Critter is clearly a supernatural being of unknown origin. An idea is that it may be a vengeful specter, trying to get revenge on humans or anything that isn't an animal in general. It clearly doesn't like people and prefers animals vastly to them. This place is its domain.

Joshua's cellphone may still be better than whatever Ema Skye may have to offer. The living must recognize who's been sending things over, have you considered that? I recognized the Polonia painting within the Church, but if there weren't other nations around, the poems about England and Poland's sacrifice could've easily been missed. The gun and the emerald were difficult to identify, for instance, but one of them were yours, correct mister Wayne? If Joshua gives up his phone, Beat should be able to connect the dots and draw the right conclusion. It seems like miss Kanaya and Prussia are set on their decisions, but again, I personally don't believe the impact will be the same unless living prey can understand these links on a personal level.

...

Granted, it may not make a difference in the end, but it's still something to consider, in my opinion.

All true.

On the other hand, I took pictures of Spain beating up Holden Caulfeld that I'm sure Charles would love to see tomorrow.

Oof, that's a good point... But maybe we could ask for a repeat or joint performance? The actual experience must be better than just a single picture, right?

...

Why haven't you done anything to him too yet, by the way? I was wondering about that!
