With night's fall, the television broadcasting everything happening in town turns off; even the ghosts will have to be kept in suspense over who will be joining them come morning. A list appears on the table in front of the TV with a ballpoint pen lying next to it.

This isn't hard. Give up something that has a great deal of meaning to you. I gave up one of my memories and even if I can't remember it I know it was important enough that those scraps appeared in the store.
