James's journal is filled almost entirely with incomprehensible notes, rambling on about Silent Hill, dying, his guilt and sorrow toward the murder of his wife, his insane desperation that he'll find his wife in the Pass, and pages upon pages of 'I'm sorry' scrawled messily. The only break from these are a few notes on the deaths he's encountered in the Pass and the rules of the game, although he's written these vaguely, as if they don't matter.
