graveyard part five

hunter's game the graveyard

You wake up in an unfamiliar cabin.

At first, it almost seems like you're in an entirely different place and that everything had been just a dream. The interior of the cabin looks nothing like the run-down, old-timey shacks that you had been living in before. Everything in here is sleek and modern, from the enormous flat-screen TV mounted on the wall to the fridge and mini-bars stocked with all your favorite foods. There aren't any individual rooms in here, just a common area large enough to house everyone comfortably, no matter how many more people join you...and there will be plenty more people joining you before the week is over.

Because if you look outside the window, it quickly becomes clear that not only are you still in Prayer's Pass, but that you are no longer among the realm of the living. Judging from the tombstones directly outside, you're now in what had been the abandoned broken-down cabin in the graveyard. The cabin's not all that changed; the world outside has gone completely grey and everything you see appears to be faded and blurry. The only things that remain sharp and in color are what's inside the cabin, including your fellow ghosts. Occasionally, people who are still alive may enter, but it's clear that what they're seeing is completely different from what you're seeing. The door's unlocked; however, a mysterious force prevents you from stepping beyond the threshold, no matter how hard you may try. After all, this cabin is a cage for the dead - a gilded one, perhaps, but a cage nonetheless.

On the flat-screen TV plays everything that is currently happening in the town. It will shut off once night starts...and something else will appear instead.

(The graveyard so far)

There isn't much else to do in this shoddy version of the afterlife, you know? [just eating BOWLS OF SWEETS and throwing popcorn at the tv screen.]

Anyway, you'll be congratulated for that by more than one person, surely. Your sacrifice is what allowed the ghosts who were already here to send out six clues over the past two nights instead of just two.

Six? [Oh, he's missed two nights... But six clues! That's better than he thought he'd manage.] Have they figured anything out yet?

See for yourself. [ie WATCH THE DOCTOR BUMBLE AROUND AND RUIN EVERYTHING UGH] Unfortunately with all of us dead, all of the players who could actually move the game forward are dead as well.

[Lithuania scans the faces on the television. It looks like Miss Mayu had died at some point, too...]

Miss Fukawa seemed interested in the clues, at least. And Miss Rikku. There's still a chance.

As long as they can get a word in over that giant imbecile of a man. [a huff.] They've the clues now and he's still pushing for more time.

I suppose it's--noble...? [Though when Lithuania was doing it they really did need more time. Lithuania looks around at the cabin.] Maybe he wouldn't be so eager if he knew how full this place was already.

It's not noble, it's moronic as anything I've ever seen in my life. If this stupid plan of his works I hope someone will kill him a second time so we don't have to look at his face. [and charles actually likes the doctor, but this is unACCEPTABLEEEE]

The others don't seem to be agreeing, at least. ...Did they really almost all abstain yesterday?

I hope they don't. [quietly resting his chin in his hand...]

But yes, that did indeed almost happen. Every single one of the group except Mondo. Even the last two hunters.

It would be interesting to see what might happen if they did that. I don't suppose any of the clues have given really obvious instructions on what to do?

Not at all, they were all quite vague and unhelpful. In fact, the clue Joshua unlocked could potentially be viewed as a clue that goes directly against what the other things have said. Who's to say at this point? [SHRUGS...]

Ah, I could have expected that. [He is feeling remarkably okay with this, though.] I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

[he is literally in a cabin surrounded by apathetic and/or zen dead people

...well, there are worse places to be.]
Ugh, I suppose. Good luck to us, then. If you want a drink for later, the refrigerator is well stocked.

Oh, how convenient. [At least it's not inside a dairy.] I suppose luck is what we have left, so yes, good luck.
