graveyard part 2

hunter's game the graveyard

You wake up in an unfamiliar cabin.

At first, it almost seems like you're in an entirely different place and that everything had been just a dream. The interior of the cabin looks nothing like the run-down, old-timey shacks that you had been living in before. Everything in here is sleek and modern, from the enormous flat-screen TV mounted on the wall to the fridge and mini-bars stocked with all your favorite foods. There aren't any individual rooms in here, just a common area large enough to house everyone comfortably, no matter how many more people join you...and there will be plenty more people joining you before the week is over.

Because if you look outside the window, it quickly becomes clear that not only are you still in Prayer's Pass, but that you are no longer among the realm of the living. Judging from the tombstones directly outside, you're now in what had been the abandoned broken-down cabin in the graveyard. The cabin's not all that changed; the world outside has gone completely grey and everything you see appears to be faded and blurry. The only things that remain sharp and in color are what's inside the cabin, including your fellow ghosts. Occasionally, people who are still alive may enter, but it's clear that what they're seeing is completely different from what you're seeing. The door's unlocked; however, a mysterious force prevents you from stepping beyond the threshold, no matter how hard you may try. After all, this cabin is a cage for the dead - a gilded one, perhaps, but a cage nonetheless.

On the flat-screen TV plays everything that is currently happening in the town. It will shut off once night starts...and something else will appear instead.

I hate to say it, but I agree. Withholding crucial information when everyone's lives are on the line is reckless. He most likely told his classmate, but that may be it.

[The only question now is if Naegi will actually use the gun. A part of Bruce hopes he doesn't...but a part of him he despises hopes for it.]

...Ugh.

Does anyone else feel like Critter picked us on purpose because we kind of have huge gaping faults that make us all really suck at being Hunters...?

[Like Poland's complete lack of foresight. England's obsession with America. Bruce's aversion to killing in general. And Naegi just... being Naegi apparently.]

I would like to think everyone here doesn't kill for fun.

[Well, other than the split personality of that girl.]

Regardless, I think it's safe to say that Critter doesn't want us to win. It keeps tossing things at our group that keep pushing us into a corner. Like how the Lookout can pick a replacement upon death. No other investigative role has such a power.

[Mayu nods authoritatively]

Rabbit said so, once.

I'm guessing it's not a coincidence either that he gave that role to Ukraine and made it a point to mention she can only pass it on to other prey.

When Lithuania is so totally obviously prey.

And he's the best shot we have of solving the real game's clues.

[Ugh. Seriously. Fuck you Critter.]

And he's clearly the only remaining traveler she trusted.

[...how does one politely say "maybe you will reunite soon"]

[Poland buries his face in his hand.]

...

Maybe America will pull his head out of his butt and protect him.

[That's a big maybe though.]

[personal profile] speakveryclearly 2013-05-28 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
.............maybe.

If he doesn't... I'm sorry.

Don't forget killing our tracker on the second day and giving Robin to the vigilante as well. Those were both due to Critter, not through the prey figuring anything out. [He sighs.] We had to use quite a bit of brainpower and trickery to save Ukyo and find the bloodhound and watcher...but evidently nothing we do will ever be good enough. Critter clearly doesn't want us to win.

You keep saying that. And that Naegi played you when lives were on the line.

[ Damian turns his attention back to the television, his expression thoughtful. Father wouldn't care about his own life so much as others' lives. Poland and England both have countries to concern themselves with. Hmm... ]

So Naegi today. Holden tomorrow. The girl who pretended to be the bloodhound the day after that.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when they know who hunters are but can't kill them until the trial.
speakveryclearly: Kanaya with pursed, green lips, looking up at the sky skeptically. Offscreen her hand is on her hip. (Tch)

That will leave only... four, won't it? I wonder, will that quartet expose themselves over the course of the remaining days or will they continue undetected and take the game back after all. Kyouko, at least, has the perfect cover.

It sounds like all the trials are going to do is get rid of the useless parts.
tsunneverset: (ponder)

[personal profile] tsunneverset 2013-05-28 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't argue with you there.

I think the outcome of this game is going to hinge entirely on Kirigiri. Our viper has done a remarkable job of keeping inconspicuous, but the watcher could still get lucky there. Kirigiri though...even if someone realizes the possibility of being able to fake her role, there's no way to prove it unless Critter throws in yet another twist. We only need one hunter to win.
therealrobin: (pic#6094950)

[personal profile] therealrobin 2013-05-28 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
So who's the viper?

And how long do you think it'll be before Critter outs her through some sort of twist?
tsunneverset: (pic#6046426)

[personal profile] tsunneverset 2013-05-28 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Sharon Carter. She's been doing well.

With our luck? It'll set her on fire tomorrow and claim it was simply making things "fair". Or maybe it'll wait until we've actually managed to make some progress to do so, like it did when we converted Kirigiri and lost Robin. I don't believe it's ever forgiven me for saving Ukyo.
axeforasong: (but look I'm completely innocent yo)

[personal profile] axeforasong 2013-05-28 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Is funny, yes? Rabbit playing favourites should be bad, yes? [says the person who got her role because Critter liked her]

What happens if Prey win?
notyetlost: (think)

[personal profile] notyetlost 2013-05-29 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
No one's asked yet. [Poland's been thinking about this for a while though, himself.]

I'll ask tonight.

[personal profile] therealrobin 2013-05-29 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
What do the hunters get if they win? You're obviously still rooting for them, but you've killed a bunch of the people here.

It isn't money. We're already dead. And it has to be more than just-

[ They still can't tell even though they're dead. Which means...

He goes quiet and looks around to see if Critter is around, then silently puts his chin on his knees. ]

Poland is stupid anyway.

axeforasong: (It'll grow back!)

[personal profile] axeforasong 2013-05-29 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that stupid.

Critter wants Prey to win, yes? Is enough reason to not want Prey to win.

[Poland won't answer as usual.

But he is smiling at Mayu's reasoning.]
