graveyard part 2
![]() You wake up in an unfamiliar cabin. At first, it almost seems like you're in an entirely different place and that everything had been just a dream. The interior of the cabin looks nothing like the run-down, old-timey shacks that you had been living in before. Everything in here is sleek and modern, from the enormous flat-screen TV mounted on the wall to the fridge and mini-bars stocked with all your favorite foods. There aren't any individual rooms in here, just a common area large enough to house everyone comfortably, no matter how many more people join you...and there will be plenty more people joining you before the week is over. Because if you look outside the window, it quickly becomes clear that not only are you still in Prayer's Pass, but that you are no longer among the realm of the living. Judging from the tombstones directly outside, you're now in what had been the abandoned broken-down cabin in the graveyard. The cabin's not all that changed; the world outside has gone completely grey and everything you see appears to be faded and blurry. The only things that remain sharp and in color are what's inside the cabin, including your fellow ghosts. Occasionally, people who are still alive may enter, but it's clear that what they're seeing is completely different from what you're seeing. The door's unlocked; however, a mysterious force prevents you from stepping beyond the threshold, no matter how hard you may try. After all, this cabin is a cage for the dead - a gilded one, perhaps, but a cage nonetheless. On the flat-screen TV plays everything that is currently happening in the town. It will shut off once night starts...and something else will appear instead. |

[ ... some of them. ]
Why's it such a big deal to you? At least you could talk to them again this way.

All the hunters need to be eliminated for the prey to win. In that scenario both England and Prussia have to die. That would put like. Millions and millions of lives in limbo. That seriously can't happen. No way.
I failed, but even though I'm gone I'm hoping my people remain. And that the other nations can pick up where I left off. I've failed in the past... the world kept turning without me. I don't know if it still could with three of us gone simultaneously.
So... my side needs to win.
[And then of course there is the thing he's not allowed to disclose.]

[ She sighs, rewinding the tape to yesterday's voting. After a moment she points out this. ]
He's the one who... he's a hunter. But he voted for your friend. [ She shakes her head. ] Don't you get it? Your note might not be enough. You need to be back there protecting him, even if you still want those guys to win.

Remember how I mentioned that I was married at one point? Before I let Critter chop off my hand?
It was Liet. I used to be married to Liet. We formed the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and we completely dominated Europe for like... centuries. You could not beat us, we were invincible together. It was the best...
But eventually, like basically every powerful empire that came before us, our time in the sun came to an end. We weren't invincible together anymore.

The partitions were when Liet and I were separated. Our marriage and empire were like totally dissolved. Prussia, Austria and Russia cut up my land and split up my people amongst the three of them. Liet was taken by Russia and I went to live at Austria's.
And I was lucky. Because I while I wasn't even a country anymore at least I was taken care of in Austria's house. It wasn't perfect and it definitely wasn't what I wanted, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Eventually I even got my independence back and was able to move out and exist on my own again.
Liet wasn't lucky. Russia was the absolute fucking worst. He was abusive and possessive and crazy. Liet doesn't even know that I know this, but I caught a peek at his back one day by accident. It was so scarred up and so beaten-- I was completely speechless. I was angry and upset, how could I have let this happen to him? How could I let him just go through that abuse alone? I wanted to confront him about it, I wanted to know every detail so I could go and kick Russia in the teeth for him.
But I didn't.
I waited for Liet to talk to me about it. I waited for Liet to tell me all the horrible details he couldn't keep to himself any more. I waited for Liet to ask me to beat the crap out of Russia for him and I would have obliged in a heart beat.

Because the truth of it is, Liet doesn't need me. We're not a commonwealth anymore. He can handle things on his own. He can stand up for himself on his own. He's independent and he totally worked his ass off and trudged through so much crap to get to where he is and he did it without me.
He can handle this. He can survive this. He just totally doesn't know it yet.
But he will. I believe in him a billion percent.
